From odors to water temperature, if you have a question about plumbing, you may find the answer here.
Foul Odors
I have a foul odor coming from my garbage disposer. What can I do to eliminate this odor?
Odors occur from a buildup of food debris inside the disposal. To
eliminate this odor, place ice cubes and lemon
or orange peels in the disposal and run for 30
seconds. Next, add a small amount liquid dish
detergent in the disposal while it is still
running. Then finish by running cold water for about 30 seconds to rinse all the debris away.
I am getting a odor from a bathroom. We very seldom use this bathroom What can we do?
First of all pour water into all of the drains
in the bathroom. If drains are not used very
much the water seal inside the traps can
evaporate and let odors into the air inside a
bathroom.
Low water pressure at a fixture
My shower head has a buildup of a white deposit around where the water comes out. Is there anything I can do
to fix this?
The buildup is mineral deposits. To remove these
deposits from the showerhead, take a plastic bag
and pour a cup of vinegar in it. Place the bag
over the showerhead and use a twist tie to hold
it in place overnight. In the morning, remove
the bag and scrub the area with a toothbrush. If
this does not work the shower head will need to
be replaced.
Not enough hot water
We
always run out of hot water very fast. We can
hardly finish a short shower. What is wrong?
You could have a dip tube that has broken. There
could be a problem with the gas thermostat. It
could be a bad pressure relief valve. Or if you
have a electric water heater it could be the
thermostat or a element. We recommend your call
us and let a qualified technician check this
problem out.

Toilet Replacement
We need to replace a toilet in our home. We have
heard coworkers and friends complain that the
new toilets do not flush properly, and that they
require two or more flushes. What do you
recommend?
When the federal government mandated that new
toilets use no more than 1.6 gallons per flush,
manufacturers had to develop a toilet that would
achieve this but that would also flush properly
(clear the bowl) and carry the waste to the city
sewer or septic system. Some of the early models
did not do this properly. Since then,
improvements have been made in some toilets.
While other toilets continue to struggle with
the flush.
Remember
all toilets do not flush the same.
When considering a new fixture we recommend that
you choose a Eljer Titan comfort height toilet. Remember all toilets do
not flush the same. However the Titan has proven
itself very reliable in the field.
